XIAMEN, China, Aug. 19 (Xinhua) -- China's leading sportswear brand Anta established a global strategic partnership with the World Wildlife Fund (WWF) here on Wednesday, promising to promote sustainable and green development of the country's textile industry.

Under the three-year agreement, Anta, the world's third largest sportswear company by revenue, will cooperate with WWF to help more than 3,000 of their suppliers improve water and energy utilization, waste discharge and supply chain management.

"We plan to realize a 30 percent reduction in industrial value-added energy consumption, a 22.5 percent reduction in water consumption, and a cumulative reduction of 15 percent in total discharge of major water pollutants," said Ding Shizhong, the Chairman and CEO of Anta.

"This is our responsibility as a global company," noted Ding, whose company has acquired several global brands in recent years, including Amer Sports, Descente and Kolon Sport.

Ding also said they will gradually replace plastic packing bag with 100 percent sustainable and environmentally-friendly materials. The company will launch a series of products together with WWF, with all profits to be donated for biodiversity conservation.

In addition, Anta and WWF will jointly support forest and landscape restoration, and first batch of projects will be carried out in Beijing and Xishuangbanna, in southwest China's Yunnan province. Enditem
