WINDHOEK, Aug. 19 (Xinhua) -- Namibia's biggest tourism event, the Namibia Tourism Expo (NTE), is scheduled to take place in Windhoek from Nov. 4 to 7, the organizers confirmed Wednesday.

The expo will be hosted by Namibia Media Holdings (NMH) under the theme "Renewable Energy."

NMH PR executive Maggy Mbako on Wednesday confirmed to Xinhua that they are currently preparing to host the event despite the current COVID-19 pandemic and hopefully the scheduled event will not be affected by the extension of the country's COVID-19 State of Emergency regulations.

According to Mbako, the tourism industry has been hard hit by the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic, and the aim for the expo this year will be to use the platform to revive the already struggling industry.

"This year's event if not disrupted further by the regulations, it will not be targeting the masses, but it acts as a platform for the key players in the industry to strategize and network in a move to kick-start the ailing industry," she said.

Mbako said they are currently inviting members of the tourism sector and the general public to reach out to the organizers with regards to topics of discussion that can bring about the revival of the sector.

Meanwhile, Namibia is doing its utmost to revive the sector and to ensure that it recovers and emerges stronger after the shocks that have been caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. On Aug. 3, Namibia opened its doors to tourists in a bid to stimulate the tourism sector. Enditem
