RIYADH, Aug. 26 (Xinhua) -- Two Saudi scholars have won a special award in an event to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the China-Saudi Arabia diplomatic ties.

During the event organized by the Chinese Embassy in Saudi Arabia in capital Riyadh, the embassy has received more than 160 themed works from people of the two countries, including pictures, videos, calligraphy and musical works.

Saudi scholars Haitham Al-Sayed and Abdullah Al-Wadei, who recorded video clips in Chinese to support the Chinese people during the critical moment of China's fight against the coronavirus, were awarded on Tuesday.

The two scholars said that they would continue working to promote academic exchanges and the friendship between the two peoples.

Chinese Ambassador to Saudi Arabia Chen Weiqing congratulated the two winners for their dedication to the solidarity of the Saudi and Chinese peoples in light of the pandemic crisis, adding that the video clips symbolized the friendship between the two countries.

Chen noted that since the two sides established diplomatic ties, significant progresses have been made, such as in the fields of culture and education, and in the face of COVID-19, the two countries have worked together.

The Saudi scholars who attended the award ceremony spoke highly of the positive achievements in people-to-people and cultural exchanges and the cooperation between the two countries in epidemic prevention and control, saying that they will continue to contribute to promoting exchanges and consolidating friendly relations between the two countries.
