BEIJING, Aug. 27 (Xinhua) -- A senior official of the Communist Party of China (CPC) on Thursday called for accelerating the reform and development of the system of checks on powers and supervision in law enforcement and judicial work.
Guo Shengkun, a member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, made the comments at a video conference on deepening overall reform in political and legal work.
Guo, who heads the Commission for Political and Legal Affairs of the CPC Central Committee, stressed the improvement of the mechanism of the Party's leadership over law enforcement and judicial work, and the system of checks on powers and supervision among administrative and judicial departments.
Efforts should also be made to refine the mechanism of oversight by the public, and the smart management and supervision mechanism, he said.
Guo called for efforts to develop a fair, efficient, and authoritative socialist judicial system with Chinese characteristics, and improve judicial credibility in an all-round way. Enditem
