COLOMBO, Aug. 30 (Xinhua) -- The sun will directly be over Sri Lanka till Sept. 7, raising the temperature across the island country, the country's Meteorology Department said in a statement here Sunday.
The Meteorology Department said that on the apparent southward relative motion of the sun it will be directly over the latitudes of Sri Lanka from Aug. 29 to Sept. 7.
The northern district will be the worst affected in the noon with temperatures likely to hit 40 degrees.
The public have been advised to remain hydrated and avoid going out during the peak times. Enditem
