China's top flight club Jiangsu Suning denied reports of unpaid wages to its players.
DALIAN, China, Sept. 2 (Xinhua) -- Chinese Super League side Jiangsu Suning has dismissed reports that it owed unpaid wages to its players.
Several reports cropped up on Tuesday night claiming that the Suning players had threatened to skip a training session that day in protest over unpaid salaries.
The players agreed to train after the club paid them the overdue wages, the reports said.
Suning dismissed these reports as unfounded.
"All the allegations about our club are rumors. After achieving a big win at last round, the team conducted a recovery training under the guidance of their head coach this afternoon to prepare for the upcoming match," read a statement issued by the club on Tuesday night.
Suning beat Henan Jianye 5-2 here on Sunday in the eighth round of the new season and will face Shandong Luneng on Thursday. ■
