SAN FRANCISCO, Sept. 2 (Xinhua) -- U.S. Costco Wholesale Corporation on Wednesday reported its net sales of 13.56 billion U.S. dollars for the retail month of August, the four weeks ended Aug. 30, 2020, an increase of 15.0 percent from 11.79 billion dollars last year.
For the 16-week fourth quarter ended Aug. 30, 2020, the company reported net sales of 52.3 billion dollars, an increase of 12.7 percent compared to net sales of 46.4 billion dollars during the similar period last year.
For the 52-week fiscal year ended Aug. 30, 2020, the company reported net sales of 163.2 billion dollars, an increase of 9.2 percent from the 149.4 billion dollars during the similar period last year.
August sales were negatively impacted by the shift of Labor Day. The estimated negative impact on August net and comparable sales was approximately 75 basis points in the United States, and a little more than 50 basis points worldwide, the report said.
Costco currently operates 795 warehouses, including 552 in the United States and Puerto Rico, 100 in Canada, 39 in Mexico, and 29 in the United Kingdom.
