Laos' last COVID-19 patient only has light symptoms: health official

VIENTIANE, Sept. 3 (Xinhua) -- The last COVID-19 patient in Laos has only experienced light symptoms, according to a Lao health official.

The last COVID-19 patient in Laos, who is treated in Mittaphab Hospital, has light symptoms or no noticeable at all, Deputy Director General of the Department of Communicable Disease Control under Lao Ministry of Health, Latsamy Vongkhamsao, told a press conference in Lao capital Vientiane on Thursday.

The patient is a 25-year-old woman, who returned to Laos from the United States and is treated in Mittaphab Hospital since August 14.

The Lao government has warned the public and relevant authorities not to neglect containment and preventive measures, even as the country reported no new case of COVID-19 for 20 days.

On Wednesday, a total of 2,021 people entered Laos through international border checkpoints. The temperature of each person entering Laos was checked and no one showed signs of fever.

The National Taskforce Committee for COVID-19 Prevention and Control announced that it has been monitoring 2,796 people at 42 accommodation centers across the country. Enditem
