Shenzhen scores narrow win against Zhejiang in China Badminton Super League

CHENGDU, Sept. 7 (Xinhua) -- Both Shenzhen Nankeda and Anhui Souyu claimed their tough victories against Zhejiang Nengyuan and Jiangsu Weikeduo respectively at the 2020 China Badminton Super League (CBSL) here on Monday.

In an earlier match, Shenzhen edged defending champion Zhejiang 3-2, with both teams of similar strength showing their best from the very beginning.

Wu Haodong/Wang Chang overcame Deng Jiaqiang/Wu Tuobin 11-7, 11-6, 8-11, 11-3 to take the first point for Zhejiang in the opening men's doubles, before Lei Lanxi beat Ren Pengbo in the men's singles to tie the match for Shenzhen.

Liang Weikeng/Zheng Xuhui moved past Dong Weijie/Ni Bowen in the mixed doubles to overtake the lead for Shenzhen, while Han Qianxi overwhelmed Zhang Yiman in the women's singles to level for Zhejiang.

"If we can exert our speed and strength, we young players are able to beat experienced ones in the 11-point competition system," said Han Qianxi.

In the final and decisive women's doubles, Feng XueYing/Wu Yingshi swept Lv Rouhao/Ren Linfei to award Shenzhen the victory.

In the other matches on Monday, Anhui defeated Jiangsu 3-2, while title favorites Qingdao Renzhou and Ruichang Biyuan both extended their winning streak by beating Hunan Hualai 4-1 and Xiamen Tefang 4-1 respectively.
