BEIRUT, Sept. 7 (Xinhua) -- Lebanon's number of COVID-19 infections increased on Monday by 400 cases to 20,826, while death toll went up by nine to 200, the Health Ministry reported.

Lebanon's northern city of Tripoli has been witnessing a remarkable increase in COVID-19 infections, prompting Caretaker Health Minister Hamad Hassan to visit the city on Monday and check the needs of hospitals there to curb the spread of the virus.

Hassan vowed to increase the number of beds in Tripoli's hospitals in addition to the number of PCR tests.

Lebanon has been fighting against COVID-19 since Feb. 21.

The country has received several donations from different countries for the fight against COVID-19 including China which offered on June 11 around 17,500 masks, 1,500 protective gears, 1,320 goggles and 1,000 shoes covers to Lebanese public hospitals. Enditem
