S.Korean bank's loan delinquency ratio stays low on record-low policy rate

SEOUL, Sept. 10 (Xinhua) -- South Korean banks' loan delinquency ratio stayed low in July amid a record-low policy rate, financial watchdog data showed Thursday.

The ratio of bank loan, overdue at least one month, stood at 0.36 percent of the total as of the end of July, up 0.03 percentage points from a month earlier, according to the Financial Supervisory Service (FSS).

The bad debt ratio remained in a near-record-low level as the policy rate was cut to an all-time low of 0.50 percent in May.

The delinquency ratio for banks' corporate loan added 0.05 percentage points from a month earlier to 0.44 percent as of end-July.

The reading for loan to big corporations gained 0.08 percentage points to 0.29 percent. The ratio for delinquent loan to households added 0.01 percentage point to 0.26 percent in the cited month.

The ratio for mortgage loan was unchanged at 0.17 percent, but the reading for credit loan to households climbed 0.03 percentage points to 0.45 percent. Enditem
