KUALA LUMPUR, Sept. 11 (Xinhua) -- Malaysia reported 182 new COVID-19 infections, the Health Ministry said on Friday, bringing the national total to 9,810.

Health Ministry Director-General Noor Hisham Abdullah said in a press statement that one of the new cases is imported and 181 are local transmissions.

Of the new cases, 167 are from an ongoing cluster mainly affecting prisoners and detainees in the northern Borneo state of Sabah.

Another 14 patients have been released after recovery, bringing the total cured and discharged to 9,181, or 93.6 percent of all cases.

Of the remaining 501 active cases, nine are being held in intensive care and five of those are in need of assisted breathing.

No new deaths have been reported, leaving the total deaths at 128.
