HONG KONG, Sept. 11 (Xinhua) -- The following are the latest developments of the COVID-19 pandemic in Asia-Pacific countries on Friday:

DHAKA -- Bangladesh reported 1,792 new COVID-19 cases and 34 new deaths, making the tally at 334,762 and the death toll at 4,668, the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) said.

The official data showed that 14,747 samples were tested in the last 24 hours across Bangladesh.

JAKARTA -- The COVID-19 cases in Indonesia rose by 3,737 within one day to 210,940, with the death toll adding by 88 to 8,544, the Health Ministry said.

KUALA LUMPUR -- Malaysia reported 182 new COVID-19 infections, the Health Ministry said, bringing the national total to 9,810.

Health Ministry Director-General Noor Hisham Abdullah said in a press statement that one of the new cases is imported and 181 are local transmissions.

WELLINGTON -- New Zealand confirmed one new community case of COVID-19 in Auckland.

The new case has an epidemiological link to an existing case and is associated with the Mt Roskill Evangelical Fellowship bereavement events group in Auckland, according to the Ministry of Health.

MANILA -- The number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in the Philippines surged to 252,964 after the Department of Health (DOH) reported 4,040 new cases.

The number of recoveries also rose to 186,606 after 566 more patients have recovered, and 42 more patients have died from the viral disease, bringing the death toll to 4,108.

SEOUL -- South Korea reported 176 more cases of the COVID-19 compared to 24 hours ago, raising the total number of infections to 21,919. The daily caseload stayed below 200 for nine straight days, but it continued to grow in triple digits since Aug. 14.

NEW DELHI -- India's COVID-19 tally surpassed 4.5 million, reaching 4,562,414, and deaths reached 76,271, according to the latest data released by the federal health ministry.

As many as 96,551 new COVID-19 cases and 1,209 deaths were registered across the country since Thursday. This is the highest single-day spike in terms of new COVID-19 cases in the country.

YANGON -- Myanmar reported 115 more infection cases of COVID-19 this morning, totaling the cases to 2,265, said a release from the Health and Sports Ministry.

According to the ministry, a total of 185,474 samples have been tested for COVID-19 since it was first detected in Myanmar on March 23 and 8,750 patients are currently under surveillance.

PHNOM PENH -- Cambodia's Ministry of Health (MoH) said all of the 274 COVID-19 positive patients in the kingdom had recovered, as the country had detected no new cases since the end of August.

Mosques in Cambodia reopened their doors to worshippers after a six-month closure due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
