HONG KONG, Sept. 11 (Xinhua) -- Hong Kong Customs this week busted the largest airborne inbound drug-trafficking case of this year so far, seizing drugs including cocaine and methamphetamine.

Customs officers found 31 kg of suspected liquid cocaine concealed inside 45 red wine bottles when inspecting an air cargo consignment from the United States at Hong Kong International Airport on Monday.

During the follow-up operation, a 40-year-old man in connection with the case was arrested on Thursday in Yau Ma Tei, with 910g of suspected ketamine and about 520g of suspected methamphetamine seized at his residential premises.

The man has been charged with two counts of trafficking in a dangerous drug and one count of possession of apparatus fit and intended for the inhalation of a dangerous drug.

Customs vowed to step up actions against drug trafficking and intercept the inflow of drugs to Hong Kong.

Trafficking in a dangerous drug is a serious offense in Hong Kong, with the maximum penalty up to life imprisonment. Enditem
