The environment along the Yarlung Zangbo River section in Xigaze City, southwest China's Tibet Autonomous Region, has been improved. Situated at the heart of the Earth's "Third Pole," Tibet plays a strategic role in maintaining the global ecological balance by protecting its plateau ecology. Making ecological conservation a priority, Tibet has allocated a total of 64.5 million yuan (about 9.11 million U.S. dollars) for desertification prevention and control projects since 2016. Under the projects, 124,000 hectares of desertified land has been restored.
