ULAN BATOR, Sept. 15 (Xinhua) -- Mongolia and the Asian Development Bank (ADB) on Tuesday signed two agreements of 3.5 million U.S. dollars to help the country respond to the COVID-19 pandemic and improve the quality of its education, Mongolian Finance Minister Khurelbaatar Chimed said.

The agreements were signed by Chimed and Pavit Ramachandran, ADB's country director for Mongolia.

A total of 1.5 million U.S. dollars of the grant will be spent on purchasing medical devices used to diagnose and treat COVID-19, said Chimed.

The other 2 million U.S. dollars will be used to build four schools and four kindergartens in the Songinokhairkhan district of the Mongolian capital Ulan Bator and three other provinces, namely Darkhan-Uul, Dundgovi and Dornod, to provide disabled children with better access to quality education, according to the finance minister.
