ISTANBUL, Sept. 15 (Xinhua) -- A suspected member of the Islamic State (IS) militant group was detained by Turkish police in the northwestern province of Bursa, state-run Anadolu agency reported Tuesday.

The police launched a raid to catch the suspect who was accused of working for the IS media operations, said Anadolu.

Turkey's anti-terror teams have recently intensified their operations against the IS members in the country.

On Monday, at least eight people were arrested in the southern province of Mersin for their suspected links to the militant group, the agency said, citing security sources.

At the end of August, Turkish police captured an IS member in Istanbul with plans to carry out a "sensational" terror attack.

The IS was blamed for a series of deadly attacks over the years in Turkey, in which more than 300 people were killed. Enditem
