CARACAS, Sept. 22 (Xinhua) -- The success of China's poverty alleviation is due to its focus on human capital, said Tania Diaz, first vice president of Venezuela's National Constituent Assembly, in a recent interview with Xinhua.

China has worked hard to create jobs and educational opportunities in order to allow its citizens a "rewarding life," said Diaz, who is also a member of the ruling United Socialist Party of Venezuela.

"The greatest capital that nations have is human beings. They are the citizens and that is where we have to invest, that is the resource we have to take care of," Diaz said.

Diaz added that China could help Latin American countries overcome poverty through the Belt and Road Initiative.

"The Belt and Road Initiative is, let's say, a trade and economic integration strategy that can contribute a lot," she said, adding that she sees the China-proposed initiative as a new vision for relations between nations.

Diaz said that "the greatest contribution is the possibility of offering fair trade and economic relations based on mutual respect." Enditem
