(Photo by Liu Jinhai) Back in 2012, when Wang Hongbo, a former university professor from Beijing, was working as a volunteer teacher in the Keba region in a rocky valley of Qinghai Province, he wanted to create a different experience for the rural Tibetan students there. Based on the kids' real life, Wang choreographed a dance drama called "Keba Dreams" and a student art troupe was organized under the same name. The troupe had acted as an after-school club activity for the students of Keba. But it was not until 2015 that the troupe had obtained a proper rehearsal room. Before that, the troupe members had to resort to the open air as their training grounds -- by the riverbeds, in deserted courtyards and under mountain cliffs. All "Keba Dreams" members had zero experience in dancing at first, but many had improved their skills and grown to love the art by participating in performances nationwide. In 2017, 20 "Keba Dreams" members were enrolled in a vocational school for performing arts. After three years' of systematic training, all of them have been admitted by colleges and universities to further the study of dancing. (Xinhua)
