MADRID, Sept. 23 (Xinhua) -- FC Barcelona on Wednesday confirmed the sale of Portuguese international right back Nelson Semedo to the Wolverhampton Wanderers for a fee of 30 million euros plus a possible 10 million more in incentives.

Semedo has agreed to a three-year contract until the end of June 2023, with the option to extend it until 2025. He will replace Matt Doherty, who recently joined Tottenham.

The 26-year-old leaves Barca after 124 first team appearances in the three years since he joined them from Portuguese giants Benfica.

Semedo's departure leaves Barcelona needing to sign a right back, as the only player in their first team squad currently able to play in that position is Sergi Roberto, who also plays in midfield.

The Barcelona-based sports press report than Barca are closing in on a deal to sign Ajax's 19-year defender Sergino Dest and are also interested in Norwich City's Max Adams as replacements.

The press also report that Barca have reached an agreement to allow striker Luis Suarez to join Atletico Madrid.

Atletico have emerged as the leading candidates to sign Suarez after allowing Alvaro Morata to return to Juventus, who had previously been interested in Suarez.

The 33-year-old, who netted 21 goals last season despite needing a knee operation, was filmed at Barca's training ground in tears on Wednesday and the move could be confirmed in a matter of hours. Enditem
