SUZHOU, China, Sept. 25 (Xinhua) -- Shanghai SIPG edged Beijing Guoan 1-0 in the 13th round of the Chinese Super League (CSL) here on Friday, securing the top spot of Suzhou Division.

In the 40th minute, SIPG was awarded a penalty as Hulk's free kick hit the arm of Guoan midfielder Li Ke. The Brazilian striker converted the penalty to help the Shanghai side lead 1-0.

Shanghai dominated the second half with several scoring chances. Hulk hit the post twice but couldn't find his second goal of the match.

In the stoppage time, Zhang Yuning shot the ball into the net for Beijing, but the goal was disallowed due to offside after checking the VAR.

"We have played very well in the whole first phase. The next thing is to recover and keep in good form to face the second phase matches," said SIPG captain Hulk.

With one match remaining in the first phase of CSL, Shanghai sat atop the eight-team Suzhou Division with 32 points, seven points ahead of second-placed Beijing. Enditem
