BOGOTA, Sept. 25 (Xinhua) -- Colombia's death toll from COVID-19 surpassed 25,000 Friday as the country reported 7,494 new cases and 179 more deaths.

The total number of infections hit 798,317, with 25,103 deaths, according to the country's heath authorities.

Bogota will face the second peak of the disease between November and December, the city's Secretary of Health Alejandro Gomez said, urging citizens to continue following biosecurity measures to reduce infections.

Julian Laverde, vice president of network operations for the country's Avianca Airlines, announced that 11 domestic air routes will be reopened starting Oct. 1.

"In this phase, having passengers practicing self-care and strictly monitoring biosecurity protocols are still key," he said. Enditem
