LIMA, Sept. 25 (Xinhua) -- Peru manager Ricardo Gareca on Friday named three uncapped players in his preliminary squad for the team's opening 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Paraguay and Brazil.

America de Cali forward Aldair Rodriguez, Deportivo Municipal midfielder David Dioses and Cesar Vallejo midfielder Raziel Garcia were named on a 30-man list that is expected to be pruned in the coming days.

Peru will be without their captain and all-time highest scorer Paolo Guerrero, who has been ruled out for the rest of the year because of a knee injury.

"We know that nobody can ignore the importance of Paolo, but we have to try replace him and the national team has responded," Gareca told reporters in a virtual press conference.

Peru will meet Paraguay in Asuncion on October 8 and Brazil in Lima five days later.
