KUNDUZ, Afghanistan, Sept. 26 (Xinhua) -- Two people were killed and four others sustained injury as a roadside bomb struck a vehicle in Afghanistan's northern Kunduz province on Saturday, provincial government spokesman Esmatullah Muradi said.

The blast occurred in the morning rush hour in the restive Ali Abad district, killing two civilians and injuring four others, Muradi told reporters, but he didn't provide more details.

An investigation has been initiated into the incident, he added.

Another official on condition of anonymity blamed the Taliban militants for planting the mine on the road to target security forces vehicles.

Taliban militants, who are largely relying on roadside and suicide bombings and have intensified activities in parts of Kunduz province with Kunduz city as its capital 250 km north of Kabul, have yet to make comment on the attack. Enditem
