HERAT, Afghanistan, Sept. 26 (Xinhua) -- Taliban militants attacked a village in Afghanistan's western Herat province on Friday night, killing five pro-government militiamen, provincial government spokesman Jilani Farhad said on Saturday.
The armed insurgents, according to the spokesman, stormed Hajji Salam village in the restive Adraskan district late Friday night and after killing five pro-government militiamen retreated to their hideouts.
Farhad also claimed that the Taliban militants had suffered casualties in the firefight, but he did not give an exact figure.
The Taliban outfit has yet to make comment on the attack. Enditem
