YANGON, Sept. 27 (Xinhua) -- The total number of COVID-19 cases in Myanmar has increased to 10,734 as of Sunday, according to a release from the Ministry of Health and Sports.

A total of 743 more COVID-19 confirmed cases were reported on Sunday. The death toll of COVID-19 reached 226 with 28 newly reported deaths on Sunday in the country, the release said.

A total of 245,154 samples were tested for COVID-19 so far and 13,773 patients are currently under investigation, the ministry's figures said.

The national-level Central Committee on Prevention, Control and Treatment of COVID-19 issued a nighttime curfew in some regions and states including Yangon region to contain the spread of COVID-19.

At present, some townships in Yangon, Mandalay, Bago, Ayeyarwaddy regions and Mon state are under the stay-at-home order as those townships have recently seen increasing numbers of COVID-19 infection cases. Enditem
