RABAT, Sept. 28 (Xinhua) -- The Moroccan security forces bust an illegal immigration ring in Casablanca, economic hub of the North African country, and arrested three, official news agency MAP reported Monday.
During this operation on Sunday evening, seven jet skis, seven inflatable boats, five common boats, 10 marine engines and five cartridges for hunting rifles were seized.
The smugglers charged a sum of 1,600 U.S. dollars for each person in their organized illegal immigration operations toward European coasts, according to the testimony of three victims.
The Moroccan authorities arrested 27,317 illegal immigrants in 2019, including 20,141 foreigners, according to official statistics.
During 2019, 62 trafficking networks were bust and 505 involved in human trafficking and migrant smuggling arrested. Enditem
