ABUJA, Sept. 28 (Xinhua) -- Four people were killed and four others injured Monday when multiple vehicles crashed in Nigeria's southeastern state of Anambra, police said.

The crash occurred when the brake of one of the vehicles failed in Obosi, a town in Idemili North Local Government Area, Kamal Musa, spokesman for the Federal Road Safety Corps, told Xinhua.

Musa said an investigation has been launched to ascertain how other vehicles were involved in the crash.

Injured victims, he said, were immediately transported to a nearby hospital for treatment, while the bodies of the dead victims were deposited in a morgue.

Deadly road accidents are frequently reported in Nigeria and normally attributed to overloading, bad road conditions and reckless driving. Enditem
