3,835 people being isolated over COVID-19 concerns in Laos

VIENTIANE, Sept. 29 (Xinhua) -- Laos' National Taskforce Committee for COVID-19 Prevention and Control on Tuesday said it has been monitoring 3,835 people across Laos over COVID-19 concerns.

A total of 3,835 people has been quarantined at 44 accommodation centers across the country, Deputy Director General of the Department of Communicable Diseases Control under the Lao Ministry of Health, Phonepaserd Sayamoungkhoun, told a press conference in the capital Vientiane.

The Lao government continues to strictly monitor people entering Laos to prevent a second wave of COVID-19, according to the report.

People entering Laos will be sent to quarantine centers for 14 days to prevent the spread of the virus.

On Monday, a total of 2,324 people entering Laos through international border checkpoints. The temperature of each person entering Laos was checked and no one showed signs of fever.

The Lao government has advised people and relevant authorities not to neglect containment and preventive measures.

As of Tuesday, Laos has tested 51,882 suspected cases with 23 cases tested positive, and 22 patients have recovered.

The remaining active case is being treated at the designated hospital, Mittaphab Hospital (Hospital 150) in Vientiane.
