URUMQI, Oct. 4 (Xinhua) -- Northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region has created 30,435 jobs in the construction sector for poor households since June, accounting for 60.87 percent of its annual plan, local authorities said Sunday.

According to the regional housing and urban-rural development department, 50,000 new jobs are to be created in the sector this year. In addition, the region will provide employment training to 60,000 people.

In June, Xinjiang launched an employment action plan to create 200,000 technical jobs in the construction sector in three years.

The regional housing and urban-rural development department in cooperation with the local government, construction industry association, a college and a company set up an employment training base for construction workers in Payzawat County, Kashgar Prefecture.

The departments of housing and urban-rural development, human resources and social security, and education have mobilized 301 enterprises and 33 universities and training institutions to assist 33 county-level regions in southern Xinjiang for the construction of training bases, teacher training and employment.

From October, Xinjiang will carry out technical training for workers to work in the construction sector. Enditem
