BOGOTA, Oct. 4 (Xinhua) -- Uncapped striker John Cordoba has been drafted into Colombia's squad for World Cup qualifiers against Venezuela and Chile, the Colombian Football Federation (FCF) said on Sunday.

The 23-year-old Hertha Berlin player replaces Porto winger Luis Diaz who has been ordered to self-isolate after coming into contact with a person infected by COVID-19.

"The Porto footballer is prevented from joining the squad due to the protocols and sanitary regulations established by local authorities in Portugal," read an FCF statement.

Cordoba has scored two goals in three Bundesliga matches this season following his September move from FC Koln.

Colombia will face Venezuela in Barranquilla on Friday and Chile in Santiago four days later in the opening matches of South America's 2022 World Cup qualifying tournament. Enditem
