Thanks to the development of the tourism industry, villagers in Bayan in northwest China's Qinghai Province bid farewell to poverty while embracing a new life. Bayan Village is located in Caka Town of Ulan County in Haixi Mongol and Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture. People here were living in poverty. To improve their lives, in 2013, the local government relocated all 114 people in 35 households 20 kilometers away from the old Bayan Village. The new Bayan Village is closer to the famous Caka Salt Lake that provides the relocated villagers with new sources of income.
