JERUSALEM, Oct. 6 (Xinhua) -- Israeli hi-tech company Electreon Wireless announced Tuesday that it has signed an agreement with road construction company Eurovia to promote and build wireless electric road systems (ERS) in Germany, France and Belgium.

The system developed by the Israeli company charges electric cars from the road, while driving.

The wireless charging is made as deeply-installed coil infrastructure distances the radiation source from the road surface.

The new method allows the use of smaller and cheaper batteries, and is expected to save high costs of installing charging spots throughout the cities and transferring power lines.

The new agreement joins a wireless charging road set up by Electreon in Sweden for heavy electric vehicles.

Electreon also recently started first-of-its-kind pilot program in Israel, for the construction of a smart road with infrastructure for charging electric buses in the coastal city of Tel Aviv. Enditem
