BEIRUT, Oct. 10 (Xinhua) -- One man was killed and two others were injured Saturday morning in an explosion of a gas tank at a closed shop in Ashrafieh, one of the oldest districts of Lebanon's capital Beirut, Elnashra news website reported.
The civil defense rushed to the area to extinguish the fire resulting from the explosion which caused heavy material damage in the area.
Preliminary information revealed that the man who was killed was trying to steal the gas tank from the shop that has exploded, according to al-Jadeed local TV channel.
Lebanon has also witnessed a day earlier a big explosion at a warehouse in Tariq El Jdide neighborhood in Beirut, killing four people and wounding over 50 others including children.
These explosions have caused great fear among residents in Beirut who are still reeling from the huge explosions that rocked Port of Beirut on Aug. 4 which killed at least 190 and wounded about 6,000 others. Enditem
