TEGUCIGALPA, Oct. 11 (Xinhua) -- Honduras on Sunday received a second shipment of two mobile hospitals that arrived by ship from Turkey to treat COVID-19 patients, the government said.
The hospitals left Istanbul on Sept. 5 and made stopovers in Las Palmas, Spain, Trinidad and Tobago and the Dominican Republic before arriving in the Central American country, according to Strategic Investment of Honduras (Invest-H).
Honduras bought seven hospitals in total. The first two mobile units arrived more than a month ago and were set up in San Pedro Sula and the capital Tegucigalpa, and are to begin operating this week, according to the authorities.
The hospitals' steep price tag -- 48 million U.S. dollars -- has led to accusations of mismanagement. Marco Bogran, director of Invest-H, was forced to step down and is facing a legal process.
Honduras has reported more than 83,000 confirmed COVID-19 cases and over 2,500 related deaths. Enditem
