Shanghai reports 5 new imported COVID-19 cases

SHANGHAI, Oct. 12 (Xinhua) -- Shanghai reported five imported COVID-19 cases and no domestically transmitted cases Sunday, the municipal health commission said Monday.

The five patients departed from countries including Saudi Arabia, Russia, Chad and Albania, and arrived at the Shanghai Pudong International Airport over last week.

All of them have been sent to designated medical institutions for treatment. A total of 133 people in close contact with the patients on the flights have been put under quarantine.

The municipal health commission said 711 imported cases had been reported in Shanghai by Sunday. Among them, 646 patients were discharged from hospital after recovery, and 65 continued to receive treatment in hospitals.

By Sunday, the municipality had recorded 342 locally transmitted confirmed cases, including seven deaths. Enditem
