MACAO, Oct. 13 (Xinhua) -- Macao issued typhoon signal No. 8 on Tuesday morning to prepare for the incoming Typhoon Nangka with disaster prevention measures put in place, the special administrative region (SAR)'s Civil Protection Operations Center said Tuesday.

Macao Meteorological and Geophysical Bureau issued typhoon Signal No. 8, the third highest level, at 7:30 a.m. local time. It said Typhoon Nangka was about 410 km south-southwest of Macao and moved toward China's Hainan Province.

The Civil Protection Operations Center has coordinated SAR government departments to make preparations and opened four emergency shelters for the public.

The three bridges linking the Macao Peninsula and the Taipa Island were closed for safety concerns over the passing of typhoon.
