WUHAN, Oct. 13 (Xinhua) -- Chinese Vice Premier Hu Chunhua on Tuesday underscored concerted efforts to implement the Yangtze River fishing ban.

Hu, also a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, made the remarks during his inspection of the Yangtze River fishing ban in central China's Hubei Province from Monday to Tuesday.

Noting that the Hubei section of the river is key to protecting the river's integrity of aquatic ecosystems with long reaches and many conservation areas, Hu said it is of the utmost importance and urgency to implement the fishing ban.

He called for efforts to adequately compensate and relocate affected fishermen while promoting and securing their employment.

During his inspection in Hubei, Hu also researched work on agricultural technology, grain processing and circulation, and autumn harvests in Wuhan and Xianning. Enditem
