MANILA, Oct. 14 (Xinhua) -- At least two men died and a teenage boy was reported missing due to the flooding triggered by heavy rains in the central Philippine Cebu City, a disaster official said on Wednesday.

The victims are an 85-year-old male who drowned after he fell from the second floor of his house and a drunk 49-year-old man who was swept by the floodwaters, said Ramil Ayuman, head of the Cebu City disaster agency.

A 16-year-old boy who was sleeping on a sidewalk was reported missing, he said, adding that a team was looking for him.

He said the rain started to pour at around 7 p.m. on Tuesday, causing the water to rise to the waist.

At least 20 villages were inundated and several families in some villages have been evacuated, Ayuman said.

A tropical depression is unleashing rains in the Philippines, flooding several towns in the Mindanao region in the southern Philippines, central Philippines and the main island of Luzon.

A state weather bureau said the tropical depression is forecast to bring "moderate to heavy rains" to many provinces and regions including the capital Metro Manila.

The bureau said the tropical depression, packing sustained winds of up to 45 km per hour and a gust of up to 55 km per hour, was moving westward at 15 km per hour. Enditem
