KABUL, Oct. 17 (Xinhua) -- Afghanistan registered 53 new COVID-19 cases over the past 24 hours, bringing the total number of cases in the country to 40,141, said a statement of Public Health Ministry released here Saturday.
According to the statement, three patients have died over the period, bringing the number of COVID-19 related deaths to 1,488 since the outbreak of the disease in February in the country.
A total of 45 patients have recovered over the past 24 hours, totaling the number of recovered ones to 33,561 in Afghanistan, the statement said. Enditem
