The National People's Congress (NPC) Standing Committee holds a joint inquiry into a report on the enforcement of the Law on the Prevention and Control of Soil Pollution, in Beijing, capital of China, Oct. 17, 2020. Li Zhanshu, chairman of the National People's Congress (NPC) Standing Committee, attended the meeting. During the inquiry, legislators asked questions about measures to implement the responsibility system for achieving goals set for soil pollution control, protect farmland to ensure food security, and promote the safe use of agricultural land, among others. State Councilor Wang Yong and officials from multiple ministries and government agencies including the National Development and Reform Commission and the Ministry of Science and Technology, answered the questions.
