SAO PAULO, Oct. 18 (Xinhua) -- Defending champions Flamengo scored four second-half goals to seal a 5-1 win over Corinthians in the Brazilian Serie A here on Sunday.

Everton Ribeiro put Flamengo ahead at Corinthians Arena via a 32nd-minute header and Vitinho doubled the lead with a low 20-yard strike just after halftime.

Natan made it 3-0 by heading home at the far post after Ribeiro's corner but Gil pegged a goal back for the hosts when he nodded a shot past goalkeeper Hugo Souza after Luan's floating free-kick.

Bruno Henrique tapped in from close range following Mauricio Isla's pass and Diego completed the rout as he danced past three defenders before firing a low shot in the bottom right corner.

Flamengo, who are undefeated in their past nine matches, are now second in the league standings, behind leaders Internacional on goal difference.

Corinthians are 14th, just two points clear of the relegation zone.

In Porto Alegre, Thiago Galhardo scored his 14th goal in 16 league matches this season, converting a penalty in Internacional's 2-0 home win over Vasco da Gama. Enditem
