KABUL, Oct. 19 (Xinhua) -- A total 1,200 youth were commissioned to the Afghan national army on Monday after completing a 14-week military training course.

"The newly graduated soldiers from now on are ready to be deployed to any part of the country to serve the nation," Shah Mahmoud Miakhil, the deputy to Defense Ministry said in his speech at the certificate distribution ceremony.

Afghanistan's 350,000-strong security and defense forces including army and police have been fighting an increasing militancy and costly war that almost claims the lives of a dozen security personnel on average basis everyday.

At least 45 people including militants, security personnel and civilians have been killed over the past 24 hours in the country, according to officials. Enditem
