MEXICO CITY, Oct. 19 (Xinhua) -- German world number seven Alexander Zverev has confirmed his participation in the 2021 Mexican Open, organizers said on Monday.

The 23-year-old is the first top 10 player to commit to the ATP 500 event, which will be played in the Pacific resort city of Acapulco from February 22 to 27.

"After going through this difficult time, it's an honor and a great pleasure to be able to confirm that ... Alexander Zverev will come to Acapulco," tournament director Raul Zurutuza said in a statement.

Zverev was runner up at the 2019 Mexican Open, succumbing to Australian Nick Kyrgios in the final.

He was also a beaten finalist at last month's US Open - his best ever finish in a Grand Slam - losing to Austrian Dominic Thiem in five sets. Enditem
