Shandong beats Shaanxi, Li Yueru leads Inner Mongolia past Wuhan

CHENGDU, Oct. 20 (Xinhua) -- Wang Yingzhu contributed a double-double to help Shandong to an 84-71 upset of Shaanxi in the Women's Chinese Basketball Association (WCBA) league, while Inner Mongolia won over struggling Wuhan 88-70 on Tuesday.

Shandong led for much of the game and were hot from the start, using a 16-2 run that was started by a jumper from Yang Hengyu to hold a 20-8 lead.

Chen Yanyu knew Shaanxi were depending on her to rally when they fell behind 19 points midway through the third, and she scored four straight points during a 15-4 run to cut the deficit to eight entering the final period.

Shandong didn't need long to find a groove. After Cao Junwei hit a 3-pointer, they never let their rivals get closer than single-digit, finishing with 84-71 over Shaanxi.

Wang Yingzhu led Shandong with 22 points and 11 rebounds, while Cao Junwei also finished with 20 points. Chen Yanyu scored a game-high 30 points for Shaanxi.

Inner Mongolia remained undefeated and extended their consecutive wins to seven over Wuhan. They jumped early in the first half while Li Shanshan sparked a string of ten straight points for a 50-36 lead.

Wei Wei started a decisive 10-1 run with a jumper for Inner Mongolia before Ma Xueya capped it with layup for a 88-70 victory.

Li Yueru got 15 points in 13 minutes, followed by Ma Xueya's 14 for Inner Mongolia, while Wuhan's Peng Huaqian and Li Xiu each got 17.

Sichuan will play against Shanxi on Wednesday while Beijing will face Dongguan. Enditem
