MADRID, Oct. 20 (Xinhua) -- There was bad news for Spanish Lia Liga club Granada on Tuesday when striker Roberto Soldado was confirmed to be infected with COVID-19 just two days ahead of their debut in the Europa League group stage.

The 35-year-old gave a positive PCR test carried out by UEFA on Monday and is self-isolating in his home, where the club medical staff continue to evaluate his condition.

As a result of the test, he will miss the Chinese-owned club's trip to play PSV Eindhoven on Thursday, the La Liga game away to Getafe at the weekend and another Europa League match at home to PAOK Salonika on October 29th.

Tuesday also saw the Spanish sporting press report that FC Barcelona President Josep Maria Bartomeu is currently in isolation after being in contact with someone who subsequently tested positive for COVID-19.

The El Mundo Deportivo newspaper explains that Bartomeu has given a negative in a PCR test, but will not be present at Tuesday's Champions League opener at home to Ferencvaros and will continue isolated until he receives a negative result from a second test. Enditem
