YANGON, Oct. 20 (Xinhua) -- Myanmar authorities seized 50 kg of methamphetamine (ICE) in eastern Shan state, according to the Central Committee for Drug Abuse Control (CCDAC) on Tuesday.
Acting on a tip-off, the anti-narcotic police made a seizure in Tachileik township on Monday.
Some 50 kg of methamphetamine (ICE) worth 1 billion kyats (769,230 U.S. dollars) were seized from four cars along with five suspects.
The township police filed a case against the suspects and further investigation was underway as per the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Law, the committee said.
According to a statement by the President's Office on Monday, a total of 1,377 drug-related cases have been registered across Myanmar, while 2,101 people have been charged in connection with the cases as of Oct. 17 this year. Enditem
