CHENGDU, Oct. 25 (Xinhua) -- Changchun Yatai overcame Meizhou Hakka 1-0 while Zhejiang Energy Greentown enjoyed a comfortable victory in the second stage of the 2020 China League One, followed by Chengdu Better City edging out Taizhou Yuanda on Sunday.
In an eye-catching duel of the two top teams from the league's first stage, Gao Di netted the winning header for Yatai in the 58th minute after Serginho's long-range strike was parried by Meizhou goalkeeper Hou Yu.
"We were brilliant tonight and established our rhythm," said Yatai coach Chen Yang. "We have to make sure that we're more clinical in the next rounds."
In other matches in the six-team promotion group, Zhejiang Energy Greentown's opener against Kunshan FC was scored by Nyasha Mushekwi in the third minute.
Kunshan were slow to react to Yao Junsheng's corner in the 54th minute, allowing Wang Guanyi to head in to seal a 2-0 victory for Zhejiang.
Chengdu Better City also defeated Taizhou Yuanda 2-1 thanks to Tang Miao's winning goal in stoppage time.
The league's other 12 teams were divided into two relegation groups. Sichuan Jiuniu beat their rivals Xinjiang Tianshan Leopard 1-0 in the Meizhou Division thanks to Wang Song's strike.
Elsewhere, Guizhou Hengfeng routed Liaoning Shenyang Urban 3-0, while Beijing BSU won over city rivals Beijing Renhe 3-0.
In the Changzhou Division, Heilongjiang Lava Spring drew 1-1 with Nantong Zhiyun, and Brazil's Guto scored twice to help Inner Mongolia Zhongyou beat Suzhou Dongwu 3-1. Shaanxi Chang'an Athletic and Jiangxi Liansheng played out a 1-1 draw.
In the next round of matches, Yatai will face Taizhou FC on Wednesday, while Shaanxi Chang'an Athletic play against Zhongyou the following night. Enditem
