India's central bank governor tests positive for COVID-19

MUMBAI, Oct. 25 (Xinhua) -- India's central bank governor Shaktikanta Das has tested positive for COVID-19 on Sunday.

"I have tested COVID-19 positive. Asymptomatic. Feeling very much alright," Das, governor of the Reserve Bank of India (RBI), said on his social media account.

The governor will continue to work from isolation and said that his work at the RBI will go on normally.

The last meeting of the RBI's monetary policy committee was held on Oct. 7-9 while the next meeting is scheduled for Dec. 2-4.

The governor said that he was in touch with all deputy governors and other officers through video conference and telephone.

The number of active COVID-19 cases in India is now 668,154, and the death toll stands at 118,534, according to official data. Enditem
