MADRID, Oct. 25 (Xinhua) -- Controversy surrounded the big game of the weekend in La Liga as Real Madrid won the "Clasico" 3-1 away to FC Barcelona in the Camp Nou stadium.

Goals from Fede Valverde, Sergio Ramos' penalty and a late finish from Luka Modric gave Real Madrid a vital and morale-boosting win, but Barca was furious about Ramos' 61st minute spot-kick which changed the destiny of the game.

While there was no denying Clement Lenglet grabbed Ramos' shirt as they tussled in the Barcelona penalty area, Barca claimed that the Real Madrid captain had previously given Lenglet a slight off-the-ball kick and also pushed him, causing the defender to lose his balance.

VAR didn't see it that way, prompting Barca manager Ronald Koeman to complain bitterly after the game. "Why does VAR only work against Barcelona?" asked Koeman, who is worried about the fact that his side has taken just one point from nine ahead of next week's visit to Juventus in the Champions League.

Real Madrid climbs up to second behind Real Sociedad, who remains league leader after a comfortable 4-1 win at home to Huesca.

Mikel Oyarzabal put the home side ahead from the penalty spot in the 34th minute, and although Rafa Mir's powerful header leveled the scores at the start of the second half, that only served to spur on the home side who sealed the win with a second goal from Oyarzabal, plus further strikes from Portu and Alexsander Isak.

Granada's excellent season continued with a 1-0 win away to Getafe on Sunday afternoon, in a game decided by Angel Montoro's penalty just before the interval.

Getafe can feel hard done by after the penalty was given following a revision by VAR, despite defender Djene Dakoman clearly winning the ball in his challenge on Yangel Herrera.

Former Barcelona striker Luis Suarez was on target again as Atletico Madrid enjoyed a comfortable 2-0 win at home against Real Betis, who had defender Martin Montoya sent off with 15 minutes left.

Marcos Llorente opened the scoring directly after half-time when he beat Claudio Bravo from a narrow angle, and Yannick Carrasco hit the woodwork for the home side before the hour.

Suarez netted his goal in injury-time to ensure the win after an assist down the left from Renan Lodl.

Eibar surprised Sevilla with a smash and grab raid finished off by Kike Garcia's 41st minute goal and a solid defensive display in a second half where Munir was guilty of a bad miss for the home side.

Alaves took advantage of the 25th minute red card shown to Real Valladolid defender Nacho to claim its first away win of the season. Lucas Perez missed a penalty and then had a goal ruled out for offside, before Tomas Pina opened the scoring in the 54th minute.

Borja Sainz scored three minutes from time to confirm the win and leave Valladolid bottom of the table.

Cadiz and Villarreal drew 0-0 as the home side continued its impressive start to the season, although it is still looking for its first home win.

Finally, Osasuna was given a 100th birthday present by Athletic Bilbao defender Ander Capa, whose needless foul in the 81st minute allowed Ruben Garcia to score from the penalty spot and decide a game that looked destined to end goalless.

Friday saw the round of games kick off with Elche producing another solid display to beat crisis-hit Valencia 2-1. Enditem
